These days when searching through Google or Instagram you will find that you will come across so many vendors out there offering similar services - so how do you narrow it down and ultimately choose the one that is best for you? I have put together a few tips that may help you narrow them down and find the best fit for you and your event!

So let’s start with the portfolio!

  • Review their portfolio. Before you choose any vendor for your event, it is best to carefully review the vendor’s portfolio to gauge their style and consistency. Look for examples of their previous work to ensure that their output aligns with your overall vision. If you feel as though they don’t align - keep looking.

  • Check Reviews. Look up reviews on your most trust platform (I prefer Google) for the vendor reviews. Read through them to pick out keywords that resonate with you. Whether it‘s “detailed oriented” or ”thinks out of the box” - you want to see descriptions that mean something to you. Reviews can provide insight into the vendor’s ability to maintain consistent and high quality standard across different elements.

  • Detailed Quotes. Ensure you are receiving a detailed quote in order to avoid any elements of surprise when it comes to budget. This will help you set expectations and understand the full scope of your project. If you are getting quotes from various vendors you’ll then be able to compare and contrast in order to make a well thought out decision. Also note, if something seems too good to be true - it just may be. Circle back to the first two points to help avoid these scenarios.

  • Meet & Greet. It is always beneficial to either meet a vendor in person or virtually if you can! I prefer to have at least some fort of consultation call with prospective clients as it gives us all an idea of our personalities, communication style, and priorities along. An initial meet and greet could seal the deal or break it - for either side. Be prepared for your meet & greet with your vendors - the more details and true description of your vision will benefit all parties.

  • Trust Your Instincts. When it comes down to it - this is your choice and will most likely come from your heart/gut. If you have strong connections with the vendor but maybe their price is higher than you were hoping - the connection might be worth the price rather than working with someone that doesn’t match your vibes. It is so important to trust your vendors - it will give you such a sense of relief when you are able to put their job in their hands and it leave it up to them. Taking away some of the worry that is on your plate.

You want to feel confident in your decision, you want to have a good back and forth flow with your vendors. Don’t be scared to pass on ones that you don’t feel are a good match (just don’t ghost them if you choose to)!

If you are planning on meeting with your vendor, I have created a checklist to bring along with you to help guide you through either your call or meeting! You can download that here!
